I got my first guitar when I was 6 years old, and the instrument has been a major part of my life ever since. My father is a woodworker with a lifetime of knowledge and experience, and he built a handful of guitars and amps for me when I was growing up. After years spent working as a BMW motorcycle technician, I began building and repairing guitars. The skills and analytical processes I learned restoring motorcycles- as well as my experiences touring and recording as a working musician- inform my approach to the craft of lutherie.
I have studied with Charles Fox at the American School of Lutherie in Portland, OR. I am presently a member of The Looth Group, an international group of guitar builders and technicians committed to sharing knowledge and making guitars better.
When I am not building, fixing, playing, or thinking about guitars, I am spending time at home and in nature with my wife Rosie, our dog Corinna, and our cats Tiny and TeaTime.
I deeply appreciate your interest in my work.
