My version of the enigmatic classic. Vintage foil pickups are highly sought after these days, but not all are created equal. Some modern manufacturers adorn their product with decorative foil and call them “foil pickups”, when they may be something else entirely! My Goldfoils are faithful to the spirit of the best of the originals, employing a unique rubberized magnet and extra-thin coil wire to achieve a clear and articulate sound. Bright but not harsh, with a sparkly top-end and even frequency response. They also sound terrific when wired in series.
My Strat pickups are usually based on the classic pickups from the late 50’s, but with a few modern updates such as radiused pole pieces. They still have the all the chime and a little scoop like Strat pickups should, but without any loss of presence. I have a couple winding variations, as well as a few magnet types that I will use to suit the intended application. RWRP middle pickup is standard.
I offer several flavors of P90 pickups; the magnet type and winding can be varied to match the goals of the client. Traditional P90’s are known for their punchy midrange and warmer top-end. One of my favorite variations on the classic formula is achieved by under-winding the coil. This makes for a somewhat brighter and articulate sounding pickup with a bell-like chime reminiscent of a Fender-style single coil while retaining the fullness and punch that the P90 is known for.
This is a unique noiseless pickup in a traditional humbucker-size package. The bass and treble sides of the pickup can be split, allowing each set of three strings to be sent to different outputs. Running the bass side into an octave pedal and bass amp produces a convincing faux bass guitar, giving the player the ability to play simultaneous bass and guitar parts. Also sounds great as a traditional guitar pickup without being split.
In split mode, the guitar pickup selector works as normal, allowing for varying amounts of ‘isolation’ between bass and treble sides.
I wind humbucker pickups to suit a wide variety of applications. Variations on the classic PAF recipe as well as more modern designs with flexible switching options are available.
